Lanzarote villa holiday makers urged to check out exotic animals

People staying in a Lanzarote holiday villa could wile away a day watching a number of exotic animals and birds.

The Guinate Tropical Park and Penguin Paradise is one of the island's top resorts and features wallabies, meerkats, otters, penguins, ostriches and flamingos, among other creatures.

Situated in the province of Haria in the north of the island - an area known as Valley of a Thousand Palms - the park is spread over 45,000 sq m.

It features lush foliage, gardens, tumbling waterfalls and lakes and resides at the base of Mt Corona.

Providing the perfect habitat for the birds, rodents, mammals, reptiles and fish, Guinate Tropical Park puts on a number of shows for animal-lovers including daily parrot shows and penguin-feeding demonstrations.

The park welcomes visitors throughout the year and is open from 10.00 to 17.00 local time each day.

The team that runs it estimates that it will take between two and four hours to catch a glimpse of everything on offer at the site.
