Lanzarote villa holiday makers can enjoy Cactus Garden
There is plenty of entertainment on offer in Lanzarote to keep people on villa holidays amused including the Guatiza Cactus Garden.
According to event-listing site whatsonwhen.com, more than 1,000 varieties of the prickly desert plants are on show at the impressive site.
Designed by architect Cesar Manrique on the site of an old quarry in the area, the garden is open daily to visitors, according to the website.
As well as the spikey plants, visitors will be able to enjoy exquisitely designed statues made from volcanic ash and placed on sun-baked circular terraces.
There is also a restaurant and a gift shop at the Cactus Garden, which is open from 10.00 to 17.45 local time.
Lovers of nature and the outdoor world might also wish to visit the Timanfaya National Park while on a Lanzarote villa holiday.
Spread over 5,107 hectares on the western side of the island, the park has been shaped by several volcanic eruptions that occurred in the 18th and 19th centuries.
What's more, since 1993 Timanfaya has managed to attract more than one million visitors annually, thanks to its breahtaking panoramic views.
