Lanzarote's tourist attractions enjoy busy 2011
While booked into Lanzarote villas, more people look to have taken in a trip to one of the Canary Island's main tourist attractions.
This is after new research reported by the Lanzarote Guidebook indicated that over 2.63 million people sought out the destination's Centres of Art, Culture and Tourism during 2011.
Such a figure is an increase of 9.34 per cent when compared to the number of tourists who visited the sites during the previous year.
Timanfaya National Park was the most popular of the main attractions for those on holidays in Lanzarote, with 879,000 trekking along the volcanic route.
Another popular venue was the Jameos del Agua, which had 684,000 visitors, along with the Cueva de Los Verdes (380,000), the Mirador del Rio (351,000) and the Cactus Garden (288,000).
People seeking out villas in Lanzarote will have another tourist attraction to enjoy in the near future, after it was recently revealed that Guinate Park, Rancho Texas Park and Costa Teguise's Aquarium will team together to create a new zoological park at the Canary Island hotspot.
