Lanzarote holiday 'is ideal for geologist'

Students of geography, geology and geothermal activity could be in their element on holiday in Lanzarote, if one writer is correct.

Linda Garrison, penning a piece for about.com, says the island is an "interesting" destination, particularly for those with a passion for the natural world.

She notes activities such as camel riding and hiking are among the most popular pursuits on Lanzarote.

But the Spanish island's premier attraction is arguably its volcanoes and mountainous terrain, which can be explored by foot.

"Lanzarote's last volcanic eruption was only about 300 years ago and the landscape reminded me of the volcanic areas of Hawaii," Ms Garrison explains.

People fascinated by the earth's make-up could find all they need for a fascinating holiday in Lanzarote located within the destination's rocky regions.

However, those who prefer lower ground are also catered for, with Annie Bennett, author of a recent article by the Telegraph, suggesting Papagayo beach is one of the top beaches on the island.
