Jet2.com introducing new flights to Lanzarote villas

British holiday makers will have more opportunities to take up a getaway to Lanzarote villas next summer.

This is after well-known leisure airline Jet2.com announced that it is to introduce five new routes to Spain for 2012 from Glasgow Airport.

Flights from the Scottish travel hub will travel to Murcia, Barcelona, Ibiza, Malaga and Lanzarote over next year's summer months.

Steve Heapy, chief commercial officer of Jet2.com, commented: "Our exciting plans for 2012 will mean even more Glasgow passengers will have direct access to an increasing number of fantastic destinations."

The news comes soon after the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade in Spain acknowledged that over 24.8 million people have visited the country in the first half of 2011, a 7.5 per cent hike on the same period last year.

Lanzarote has also seen an increase in foreign tourists throughout this year, if recent figures recorded by ISTAC, the Canarian Institute of Statistics, are to be believed.

Up until the end of August, more than 1.3 million people have sought out trips to the popular Canary Island destination – a rise of over eight per cent on 2010's figures.
