Holidays in Lanzarote 'in demand this year'
Villas in Lanzarote and the whole of the Canary Islands look to be popular with foreign tourists, if new statistics are anything to go by.
According to the Council for Tourism, 144,432 non-Spanish holiday makers made the trip to Lanzarote during August - up by almost eight per cent when compared to the same month in 2010.
Furthermore, 1.14 million individuals have made the trip to the Canary Island hot spot between January and August 2011, a 17.75 per cent hike from the same period last year.
Looking at the archipelago as a whole, 6.74 million tourists have sought a getaway to the Spanish islands in the initial eight months of this year.
This is a 22.64 per cent increase when looking at the number of people who travelled to the Canary Islands between January and August 2010.
Brits looking to take in unique experiences may be keen to book up Lanzarote villas for a last-minute getaway, as the island's resort of Mancha Blanca will be the main location to catch the Virgen de los Dolores pilgrimage on Saturday (September 17th).
