Head to Lanzarote villas to take part in new endurance contest

People heading to villas in Lanzarote have been told of a new sporting event which is coming to the Canary Islands in the new year.

The Eighth Island Challenge will be taking place on the small neighbouring island of La Graciosa between February 18th and 19th 2012.

Seen as a competition of adventure and resistance for those taking part, the attraction is sure to test the fitness levels of holiday makers.

That is because the first day of the challenge involves competitors enduring a cross country sprint around the circumference of La Graciosa, while athletes will then be tasked with following a 31-kilometre mountain trail route on the second day.

People can choose to take part in both events, as well as just one of the two if they would prefer.

La Graciosa is just 27 sq km in size, making it an easy destination for Brits to explore during a day out away from their Lanzarote villas.
