Brits who enjoy their summer getaway to Lanzarote villas so much that they want to return in the winter will have more opportunities to do so this year.
That is because Ryanair has announced that it is to offer routes to the Canaries hot spot, as well as to its neighbouring islands, from Glasgow Prestwick airport.
Such a decision will allow 1.3 million people to be carried via the routes, as well as sustain more than 1,300 jobs in the Scottish area.
Stephen McNamara, head of communications at Ryanair, commented: "Ryanair is delighted to launch its winter 2011/12 schedule from Glasgow Prestwick, which offers passengers 12 routes including great winter sun destinations such as Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife."
To celebrate the news, Ryanair will be putting on a £9.99 sale for seats to 500 European routes by the airline throughout July and August.
Ryanair's announcement comes soon after Jet2 revealed that it will be opening new paths to the likes of Lanzarote, Barcelona and Ibiza from Glasgow airport as of 2012.
