Feel "in awe of nature" on Lanzarote holiday
People heading to Lanzarote for a holiday in the coming months will "feel in awe of nature" should they venture to the island's famous Timanfaya National Park.
That is the view of Stella Kaye, writing an article for Helium, who says the natural wonder can be found close to the village of Yaiza.
A lack of rain in Lanzarote ensures Timanfaya remains made up entirely of volcanic soil, with roads and paths cut through the solid lava.
"Unique in the world, due to its volcanic past, Timanfaya is perhaps the finest example there is of recent volcanic activity," notes Ms Kaye.
This could mean the national park is of significant interest not only to holiday makers hoping to explore some natural history but also enthusiastic geologists.
While on holiday in Lanzarote, the author urges people to "marvel" at the sight of the blackened lava covering the picturesque landscape as far as it is possible to see.
Linda Garrison, penning a piece for about.com earlier this week, also said the island is ideal for those with a passion for the Earth.
