Explore three routes through Timanfaya on a Lanzarote holiday
Adventurous travellers planning a Lanzarote villa holiday this year might be interested in exploring Timanfaya National Park.
The Spanish Tourist Office revealed that there are three different routes through the park, each of which offers a number of viewing points where visitors can admire the area's volcanic landscape.
One itinerary takes walkers close to the region's volcanoes and allows them to see the Timanfaya craters.
Guides often show visitors how water instantly turns to steam when it comes into contact with the volcanic tubes found in the area.
Another walking route on offer to people taking Lanzarote villa holidays runs along the coast, passing by a number of cliffs where lava once flowed into the sea.
As well as exploring some of the long-established volcanic terrain found within Timanfaya National Park, visitors can see fields of solidified lava known as 'malpaises', which were formed by relatively recent eruptions.
The Spanish Tourist Office recommended a number of national parks and reserves located throughout the Canary Islands, such as Teide on Tenerife and Garajonay on Gomera.
