Expert: Much more to Lanzarote holidays than people expect
There is so much more on offer to those who book a holiday in Lanzarote than many people realise, believes an expert.
Ginny Light, travel editor at TimesOnline, explains the Canary Islands – headed by Lanzarote and Tenerife – is the first place sun-starved Britons look towards at this time of year.
Just three-and-a-half hours on a plane from London, the Canaries boast guaranteed winter warmth with temperatures often hitting 20 degrees C.
The writer suggests there are sometimes words written about the region that does it a "disservice".
"Yes, there are sprawling all-inclusive resorts that offer good value holidays and salsa by the pool, but there's also so much more," Ms Light states.
She could be referring to the volcanic inland parts of Lanzarote that are perfect for walking or the natural beauty found within its unspoilt coastal areas.
Sean Tipton, spokesman for ABTA – The Travel Association, recently nominated Tenerife as the perfect place to visit during December.
