Escape "miserable" Britain with a villa in Lanzarote

As the UK is in the midst of the most miserable period of the year, some residents may wish to pack their bags and head to a villa in Lanzarote for a week or two.

According to tourism chiefs in the Canary Islands, Monday (November 1st) was the low point for mood and happiness among those who call Britain home.

Factors such as the changing of the clocks, the declining hours of sunshine and poor weather make the country a depressing place to be at the moment.

However, jumping on board a short flight to Lanzarote could change all that, with the Canary Islands renowned for their excellent winter sun credentials.

A villa in Lanzarote may just be the perfect place to relax for a few days and forget about the negativity at home.

The research found those in Glasgow are likely to be the most miserable, although they may be cheered by recent news that budget airline Jet2.com is to launch flights to the Canaries from the city.
