Enjoy a 'prickly' day out on a Lanzarote holiday
There are numerous attractions for families enjoying Lanzarote villa holidays, but one of the most unusual is the Cactus Garden.
Situated between Guatiza and Mala, the park is home to over 10,000 species of cacti from around the world.
Designed by native artist Cesar Manrique before he died, the garden is a great example of Lanzarote's volcanic landscape and the plant life it supports.
It is open daily and there is a cafeteria where tourists can grab drinks and snacks as they explore the impressive grounds.
Many of the cactus plants on show at the park are native to the Canary Islands, although there are examples of species from as far away as Madagascar.
Those renting Lanzarote villas in Costa Teguise will be able to visit the Cactus Garden by car, as it is just a short drive away.
Costa Teguise is a popular place in its own right, with numerous bars, restaurants and shops, a water park and a golf course.
