Easter popular for Lanzarote's centres of art, culture and tourism
Brits heading to holiday villas in Lanzarote this summer may be interested in new statistics for the location’s six main centres of art, culture and tourism.
According to the Canary Island's Cabildo, the attractions registered record numbers of visitors over the week of Easter.
The main day for tourists to visit the venues, which included the Jameos del Aqua and the Timanfaya National Park, was last Wednesday (April 20th), when 13,000 people passed through their doors.
Such a feat comes soon after the Cabildo acknowledged that the centres of art, culture and tourism had over 590,000 guests in the first three months of 2011.
This allowed the institutes to record their highest quarter performance figures since back in 2001, illustrating that those visiting Lanzarote villas are doing so for more than the sun and beach locations.
Another attraction that holiday makers may want to seek out when staying in the popular Canary Island is the Museum of the Timple, which is based in Teguise and has been opened recently to honour the iconic miniature guitar.
