Cueva de los Verdes 'an ideal visit' when in Lanzarote villas
When staying in holiday villas in Lanzarote, Brits should be sure to check out Cueva de los Verdes.
One of the natural wonders of the Canary Island hot spot, the 3,000-year-old lava cave came to be after a volcanic eruption in the area.
Today, the northern Lanzarote location is made up of a selection of underground grottoes, as well as hosting one of the longest volcanic galleries across the globe, at six kilometres in length.
The caves of Cueva de los Verdes also hold some of the destination's history, having offered refuge to locals from slave hunters and pirates during the 17th century.
It seems as though many people have already visited the natural wonder, with research by the Cabildo finding that the main centres of art, culture and tourism, has experienced growth.
During March, the sites of Timanfaya National Park, Jameos del Agua, Mirador del Rio, Cueva de los Verdes, Jardin de Cactus and the Museum of International and Contemporary Art saw a combined 14.68 per cent increase in admissions, compared to the previous month.
