Book a Lanzarote holiday for some winter sun

Families looking to escape the cold British weather and spend a few weeks in the sun this winter may wish to consider a Lanzarote holiday.

According to travel journalist Fred Mawer, the island is a top destination for winter sun and a great place to head to beat the festive blues.

In an article for the Daily Mail, he pointed out that getting to the Canaries will be cheap this winter as airlines are offering some great deals.

And with a flight time of around four hours from the UK to Lanzarote, travelling to the island will be easy and stress-free.

Mr Mawer said Lanzarote's "bizarre" volcanic landscape is one reason to visit, although there are many more.

In addition to touring the Timanfaya National Park and watching exciting demonstrations of geothermal activity, holiday makers will also be able to stroll along the island's many beaches and enjoy some delicious meals.

Those renting Lanzarote villas in Costa Teguise will be able to explore much of the island thanks to the resorts, central location.

It is just a short drive from the capital Arrecife and also boasts its own water park and golf course, as well as bars, restaurants and other amenities.
