Art, culture and tourism venues popular in Lanzarote
Those taking up villas in Lanzarote look to be choosing to explore the art, culture and tourism options of the holiday hot spot, if new findings are anything to go by.
According to research by the Cabildo, the number of admissions into Lanzarote's main centres of art, culture and tourism rose by 14.68 per cent in March 2011 compared to the same month last year.
Furthermore, the number of tourists exploring these attractions was also up by almost 16 per cent when put up against February's total.
All told, 590,017 people have witnessed the sights of Lanzarote's six main centres of art, culture and tourism since the start of the year – the highest quarter performance since 2001.
The Cabildo based its statistics on the attractions of Timanfaya National Park, Jameos del Agua, Mirador del Rio, Cueva de los Verdes, Jardin de Cactus and the Museum of International and Contemporary Art.
Another sight to behold when staying in Lanzarote villas is the Museum of the Timple, which has recently been opened and offers tourists a chance to look through the history of the famous Canarian miniature guitar.
