Airport taxes continue be waived at Canary Island airports
People travelling to villas in Lanzarote will continue to save money on flights, thanks to airport taxes across the whole Canary Islands continuing to be waived.
The president of the government of Spain, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, has told those at the Executive Congress of Deputies such duties will continue to be subtracted for travel hubs across the archipelago.
Lanzarote Guidebook reported that such a decision means that the suspended taxes will now reach into its third year, having first being applied to flights at the start of 2010.
Since the duties were frozen, passenger numbers arriving at airports across the canary Island look to have grown.
For example, Miguel Gonzalez, the national deputy for the PSOE party on Lanzarote, acknowledged that there had been a 15 per cent rise in people passing through Arrecife airport since taxes were suspended.
Once in Lanzarote villas, Brits will have the opportunity to explore more of the Canary Island hotspot, thanks to a revised bus service between Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca, which will run every weekday.
