Sports tournaments on the beach, Ibiza
A series of sports tournaments on selected beaches on Ibiza have been taking place in recent weeks.
Local authorities at the Govern Balear have organised the beach volleyball games on the Figueretes, Talamanca and Playa d'en Bossa beaches, to draw attention to the fact that a full recovery has been made since the recent minor oil slick which hit the island last month.
The clean-up operation has now been completed, and the few beaches which were affected have now been re-opened.
Children can also join in the fun - with batuca dance classes, children's music, football and beach tennis laid on by the authorities.
Spanish beach volleyball champion Manuel Carrasco was scheduled to participate in the event by conducting courses in the sport for the benefit of participants, the Ibiza Sun reports.
Although the official round of tournaments are scheduled to come to a close tomorrow, beach sports are to remain a fixture at Ibizan resorts until the end of the summer season.
