Salt Route Regatta
The Ruta de la Sal regatta (Salt Route Regatta) takes place in the Mediterranean every Easter.
Holiday makers visiting the area can witness the race from the bay and the boats take part in two routes, starting in Barcelona or Denia and both ending up on Ibiza.
A wide variety of boats are allowed to take part in the race that begins on March 20th and finishes on March 23rd.
The first sporting edition of the regatta took place in 1989 when 36 yachts raced from Barcelona.
By 1990 65 yachts were entered into the race and in 1991 the Eastern version of the competition was created.
Holiday makers can enjoy the regatta from the beaches of Ibiza or alternatively enjoy one of the cycle routes or walks up to a high point of the island to see the boats from a distance.
