Public transport improvements on the way, Ibiza
Public transport improvements are to be implemented on Ibiza, according to the island's mayor.
Minister for transport Joan Rubio has said that improvements to the system are a top priority for the next year, the Ibiza Sun reports.
The announcement is good news for holiday makers to the island, who want to get around without the added bother and expense of a hire car.
Mr Rubio drew attention to the problem of unregulated taxis which affects visitors throughout the summer season, and offered a much-improved bus service as a solution to the problem.
Bus stops are also to be relocated under the plans. Currently, there are many spots on the island which are far less frequently visited by tourists than they might be thanks to the infrequency and positioning of the services.
While this might mean that intrepid package holiday makers can find themselves secluded spots to enjoy, tourism chiefs are nevertheless keen to open up access to the island as much as possible.
