Day trips to Formentera, Ibiza
Holiday makers to Ibiza in search of a laidback atmosphere frequently journey to the smaller neighbouring island of Formentera, which has become more and more trendy and upscale in recent years.
Daytrippers also have the opportunity to make the short hop to Formentera via the frequent ferries from San Antonio and Ibiza Town.
The island - which has very few permanent residents - offers an almost timewarp experience, with its relaxed pace of life reflecting pre-tourist boom Ibiza.
Formentera is primarily known for its fantastic beaches - the most famous being the five kilometre long Playa de Mighorn. The traditional tourist centre of Es Pujols also offers more typical Ibizan diversions of busy restaurants and bars, along with the small island's best nightlife.
Other attractions include a classic Ibizan 'hippy market' at La Mola, and the legendary sixties bar La Fonda Pepe, which has hardly changed in the intervening years.
