Contemporary life: Ibiza

Most people associate modern and contemporary holidays in Ibiza with clubbing but holidaymakers looking for culture and a good holiday will not be short of things to entertain them.

Ibiza contemporary art museum, or the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo (MAC), is located in the city walls near Eivissa.

Enclosed in the historic city walls the setting is a great contrast to the exhibits of modern art in the museum.

The museum came into being in 1963 as a result of the biennial international art show that takes place in the area.

Exhibitions are organised in the museum throughout the year and visitors will get a chance to experience the contemporary artwork that is often submitted by the local artists providing a unique and different insight into the culture of the Balearic island.

Those that leave the villa to visit the museum will be treated to paintings, engravings and sculptures with a modern take, that are often inspired by the area.
