Church provides perfect day out from Ibiza villa
In 1952, the Dominican convent moved inside the walled city and construction began on a church for the friars.
Today visitors will find that the convent now houses part of the Town Hall but the church still stands.
It took many years to create the church and the convent as work was interrupted on several occasions and holiday makers visiting the church will be greeted with a wide nave and a vault decorated with mural paintings.
The spectacular murals were painted by Vicente Matas at the request of the vicar in 1884 but they can still be seen along with the five chapels and a noticeable altar piece.
Located on a cliff, the three red tile clad cupolas are another memorable feature of the building.
The church provides the perfect attraction to draw holiday makers away from the family villa in Ibiza even though it may be hard with a private pool and many days of brilliant sunshine.
