Gran Canaria beach reopens to the public
Families who are preparing to experience thrilling trips to villas in Gran Canaria have been told that a beach in the popular Canary Island has reopened.
The Meloneras beach, which can be found in the south of the destination, is available for holiday makers to relax and sunbathe once again.
Tourists have been unable to access the coastline recently, as workers carried out tasks to remove a large collection of rocks and stones from the area.
Such items had been preventing access to the marina of Playa Meloneras, but now the beach has been reopened complete with fresh deposits of crisp sand.
Jose Carlos Alamo, mayor of Playa Meloneras, acknowledged: "With this action we have recovered a much needed beach for the tourism and especially for the local population, which has been virtually unusable for more than two years by a large pebble barrier that prevented users from accessing the sea."
Holiday makers can visit Playa Meloneras with a short bus or taxi ride from Playa del Ingles, with colourful commercial sites and a variety of restaurants and bars on offer, all of which overlook a majestic ocean scene.
