Corralejo 22 40 mins Time from airport
The island’s largest and liveliest resort, Corralejo has a twice-weekly market and a good selection of reasonably-priced restaurants and bars. A little plaza in the middle of town is fun at night with musicians performing at the pavement cafés, while a small selection of discos and karaoke bars can be found in a dedicated commercial centre. The incredible windsurfing, surfing and diving conditions in Corralejo attract watersports enthusiasts year after year; and boat trips to Lanzarote and the picturesque and uninhabited Isla de Lobos are popular attractions. Several small beaches, both sandy and rocky and swathes of untouched desert dunes, line the coast.
Caleta de Fuste 8 15 mins Time from airport
The up-and-coming resort of Caleta de Fuste, just 10km south of the airport, is built around an 18th Century fortified tower and pleasure harbour. A popular destination with young families, the resort has a beautiful golden beach and calm, clear, sheltered waters. There’s a wealth of attractions for all ages, including excellent watersports, restaurants serving international cuisine, bars, boutiques and a colourful Saturday market. Many of our villas here are located on the superb Caleta de Fuste championship golf course complex, and we also have a property on the brand new Golf Club Salinas de Antigua. This magnificent 18-hole course is set around a challenging landscape of hills, dunes, desert areas and four lakes – designed by former world champion golfer Manolo Piñeiro.
Lajares 7 35 mins Time from airport
A short drive from the coast at Corralejo, you’ll arrive at the pretty village of Lajares. Here, you’ll find a small selection of bars, restaurants and a supermarket. Two windmills next to the church were originally used to produce gofio, the special Canaries flour made from a blend of wheat, barley and maize, for the locals. The main attraction for visitors is the lace shop, Artisania Lajares, where you can watch locals make lace and embroidery. The town also boasts a lucha canaria area, specially designed to hold wrestling matches unique to the Canaries.
Oasis Papagayo, Corralejo Leisure Resort 4 40 mins Time from airport
The attractive resort of Oasis Papagayo is set amid beautiful gardens that boast an abundance of native plants and flowers. The resort occupies a great location just a short distance from the bustling resort of Corralejo and the north coast of Fuerteventura. You can experience spectacular mountain views and amazing sunsets from this tranquil corner of Fuerteventura. La Oliva is perfect if you wish to enjoy a peaceful location, whilst having a variety of facilities a short drive away. The village gives a glimpse into the traditional side of the island, with a typically Spanish atmosphere. In the centre, you will find just a few bars, tapas bars and cafes, where you can meet the village residents and soak up some local culture. For a wider choice of bars, restaurants and shops, the bustling coastal resort of Corralejo is just a 15 minute drive away. Here, you will also find a choice of beautiful sandy beaches perfect for enjoying the year-round Canarian sunshine.
Playitas Resort, Las Playitas, Tuineje Leisure Resort 1 40 mins Time from airport
Situated on the south-east coast of Fuerteventura is the extensive Playitas Resort, offering a fantastic all-year-round location for sporting enthusiasts as well both individual guests and families looking for peace and quiet. The resort is very unique, with a large range of activities to keep you occupied during your stay, with many of the facilities being enjoyed by professional athletes who train at the resort in preparation for competitive events. Also on offer at the resort are restaurants, pool bar, kids’ club, swimming pools (including an eight-lane Olympic style pool) and more. A short 5 minute stroll along the beach will lead you to the picturesque fishing village of Las Playitas, where you can mix with the locals and find out more about the ‘real Fuerteventura’.
