Ybor City promises Florida holiday makers Latin sizzle

People staying in a Florida Gulf Coast villa may wish to check out Tampa's Ybor City to sample the Latin culture on offer in the area.

Boasting an exotic mix of foods and plenty of interesting shops and galleries, the area offers a completely different experience to the theme parks and resorts of Orlando.

People can sample Cuban coffee made from freshly roasted beans, share tapas and pitches of sangria at a roadside cafe or watch as artisans make exquisite hand-rolled cigars.

Beyond the food and the shopping, there is also plenty of entertainment with jazz, blues, salsa and reggae playing at the local pubs, bars and nightclubs.

"Ybor is alive with a variety of entertainment that makes it one of Florida’s top-ranked nightspots," its official website claims.

Originally founded by Vicente Martinez-Ybor and with a rich history in cigar production, it is one of only two National Historic Landmark Districts situated in the state.

The Ybor City visitor information centre provides further info on events in the area and is open from 10.00 to 17.00 local time Mondays to Fridays, 11.00 to 18.00 on Saturdays and 12.00 to 17.00 on Sundays.
