Visit 'buzzing' Orlando on a Florida holiday

Travellers who will be staying in Orlando villas during a Florida holiday this summer can look forward to experiencing a sense of fun and excitement that has recently emerged in the city.

Lonely Planet identified Orlando as a 'destination of the month' in its most recent newsletter.

The travel guide publisher said that central Florida is currently enjoying the 'buzz' generated by the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at the Universal resort last month.

Families taking Orlando villa holidays over the coming months can visit the new park to try out rides such as Flight of the Hippogriff and Dragon Challenge, or pay a visit to Honeydukes sweet shop and the Three Broomsticks tavern.

While travellers heading to Orlando are likely to focus on its famous attractions, Lonely Planet pointed out that people visiting the Gulf Coast during a Florida holiday can join in with volunteer efforts following the recent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Robert Reid, the company's US travel editor, said that the Gulf Coast states welcome some 145 million tourists a year and urged holiday makers to continue visiting the region to provide moral and financial support.
