Visit Florida to witness Light Up Lauderdale

Holiday makers have the perfect opportunity to embrace the festive season if they book up stays in Florida villas near to Greater Fort Lauderdale this winter.

Over the next couple of months, the Sunshine State's resort will be hosting its Light Up Lauderdale event.

Tourists who head to villas in Florida to catch the attraction should make sure they catch the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade during their stay.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the ceremony will take on the theme of 'Rockin' Boats and Holiday Floats', where hundreds of water vessels are spectacularly illuminated.

A walk down the Riverwalk and Arts & Entertainment District of Greater Fort Lauderdale also allows families to see such structures as the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art and New River promenade decorated in a festive theme.

This season's Light Up Lauderdale event will be showcased until January 14th 2012.

Looking ahead to next year, Lonely Planet has advised holiday makers to consider a getaway to Orlando by naming the Florida resort in its Best In Travel 2012 guide.
