Brits hoping to find an attractive cost-effective holiday may want to opt for long-haul flights, such as to villas in Florida.
This is after Chris Nixon, managing director at Kelkoo Travel, noted that these types of airline routes prove to be cheaper value than short-haul alternatives.
He based his comments on the findings of Kelkoo's Best Value Flight Index, which was recently released.
It found that the cost of a short-haul flight from the UK is 75 per cent more expensive than a long-haul equivalent.
However, Mr Nixon noted: "The value of a flight is perhaps not something that many consumers take into account, which is perhaps why many people fly to short-haul destinations for their holidays to try and save money."
Furthermore, the expert also advised those looking for attractive holiday villa deals to also take into account the cost of living in a destination, such as the price of food and leisure activities there.
