Train link could open up US to those staying in Florida villas
People who book a villa in Florida in the coming years could use it as an opportunity to explore more of the US than just the Sunshine State.
While Florida's beautiful beaches, warm climate and vast array of theme parks is enough to keep anybody entertained, plans for a high-speed rail link further north may open up the rest of the country.
Stella Clery-Ackland, spokeswoman for the US Travel Association, says rapid rail routes will be a significant benefit to tourists.
It would see cities further up the east coast such as Washington and Boston linked with services capable of travelling at 220mph.
"Rail is becoming a much more important product in the whole offering from the United States," the expert notes.
And those on holiday in Florida may be among the best placed to capitalise by adding other destinations to their trip across the North Atlantic.
The trains proposed by Amtrak would see current journey durations halved on the routes in question.
