Teaching children cost of Florida holiday 'prepares them for real world'
A tourism expert has spoken of the advantages of making youngsters work for a holiday in Florida, as it is in effect preparation for the real world.
Allison Mitchell, speaking on behalf of the Orlando Tourism Bureau, notes making a child do some chores is a good idea.
Her comments follow research by the bureau, which showed 59 per cent of youths would do their homework without being asked in exchange for a break, while 27 per cent said they would give up video games for a month in exchange for a trip abroad.
"We have to work in order to be able to afford our holiday. All you're doing is really preparing your children for the real world," explained Ms Mitchell.
Florida may be the ideal holiday destination for children, with the Sunshine State offering a warm climate, hundreds of miles of beaches and some of the US's largest theme parks.
