Special event to offer entertainment for Florida villa holidays

People looking forward to staying in Gulf Coast villas during a Florida holiday in July will have the opportunity to pay a visit to Key West to attend a special festival.

Mel Fisher Days will take place in the island's historic seaport area from July 15th to 18th.

The event is being arranged to mark the 15th anniversary of the discovery of the Spanish galleon Nuestra Senora de Atocha and is named after the man who found the wreck.

It will begin with the presentation of the Mel Fisher Lifetime Achievement Award to Captain Carl Fismer, who was part of the crew that recovered the Atocha in 1985.

The festival will feature a range of events and activities for people to join in with during a Gulf Coast villa holiday, including a 'tropical' block party headlined by Howard Livingston and the Mile Marker 24 Band.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy carnival games, competitions, tricycle races and more.

Holiday makers staying in Fort Myers villas can reach Key West via a high-speed passenger ferry service from Fort Myers Beach and Marco Island.
