See a country music contest on an Orlando villa holiday

Holiday makers staying in Orlando villas this summer will be able to attend an event celebrating a much-loved aspect of American culture at one of the city's top attractions.

The semi-final stage of the Colgate Country Showdown, which is billed as America's largest country music talent search, will be held at the Wet 'n' Wild water park on June 19th.

Getting underway each spring, the competition begins with over 450 local talent contests which lead to state competitions held at fairs and expositions.

People taking Orlando villa holidays can visit Wet 'n' Wild for the semi-final meeting to see performers competing for a $1,000 (£655) prize, the state title and the chance to advance to a regional final.

Competitors who make it through this stage will win the opportunity to take part in the national final, which is broadcast on US television and offers a grand prize of $100,000.

As well as enjoying any live events that may be taking place, holiday makers who visit Wet 'n' Wild during an Orlando villa break can try out attractions such as the Storm, Mach 5 and Bomb Bay thrill rides.
