Florida has been named as one of the top ten destinations for winter sunshine, which may interest families looking to escape the cold weather at home.
In an article for the Irish Times, travel journalist Sandra O'Connell said winter holidays just "make sense".
She claimed a "burst of golden sunshine" during the darkest days of the year as significant physical and mental health benefits.
"Any day now the government will see the light and make winter sun holidays tax deductible," she joked.
Florida is indeed one place where families can enjoy some warm sunny weather this winter.
Ms O'Connell pointed out that fun in the sun is what the US state is all about.
As the theme park capital of the world thanks to attractions like Disney World, Universal Studios and Busch Gardens, it is also a firm favourite among children.
And she said that in winter, temperatures still average a "toasty" 20 degrees Celsius, so a trip to the beach could also be on the holiday itinerary.
Those renting Florida villas in the Terra Verde resort in Orlando will be in a great location to enjoy some of Florida's best attractions.
As well as being close to Disney World, it also has its own large outdoor pool surrounded by sun loungers and shaded areas.
