Put a 'silver spring' in your step in a Florida holiday

Florida holidays are often about visiting theme parks, but one that families may not have thought about is Silver Springs.

While not as high-profile as Disney World or Universal Studios, it nevertheless offers hours of fun for young and old in a stunning natural setting.

Built around a large lake, the park is home to an abundance of flora, fauna and wildlife, as well as numerous rides and attractions.

Visitors can take a river cruise on a glass bottom boat to view dozens of species of fish swimming beneath the surface of the water.

They may also spot clams, crawfish, shrimp, snails, turtles and even an alligator.

Silver Sprigs also boasts several other wildlife exhibits, including the Panther Prowl and the World of Bears.

Of course no theme park in Florida would be complete without some exciting rides, and there are several at Silver Springs, including the Lighthouse Ride and the Wilderness Trail.

But perhaps the most exciting attractions are the wildlife shows, which give visitors the opportunity to see birds of prey in action, get up close and personal with non-venomous snakes and feed crocodiles.

Silver Springs is located just east of Ocala, which is north of Orlando. Those renting Orlando villas will be able to drive to the park.

The Glenbrook Resort could be a good choice, as it site on Highway 27 just one mile north of Highway 192, so will provide easy access to most Florida attractions.
