Have a 'shell' of a good time on a Gulf Coast holiday

Families heading off on Gulf Coast holidays will be able to spend a day marvelling at the beautiful shells that can be found along the Florida coast.

The Shell Factory in Fort Myers is home to a vast collection of colourful seashells, many of which are used to create stunning jewellery and gifts.

As well as a shop where visitors can buy unique hand-made goods, there is also a large nature park which houses sea creatures, living coral and other specimens.

But it's not all about the sea, as there are also many other animals, birds and reptiles living in this mini zoo.

With an indoor butterfly habitat, a rainforest aviary, a small animal museum and a gator enclosure, there is plenty for families to see.

Afterwards, they could experience the Waltzing Waters liquid firework display, visit the fun park and arcade or enjoy a meal at Capt'n Fishbones restaurant.

Those renting Gulf Coast villas in Fort Myers will simply need to head north on the I-75 to get to the Shell Factory.

Fort Myers itself offers a wide variety of attractions for families holidaying in the area, including a lively local beach.
