Have a blooming great Gulf Coast holiday

Those hoping to enjoy a truly relaxing Florida villa holidays can find some great alternatives to the busy theme parks on the Gulf Coast.

One attraction that may prove inviting is the Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, where tourists can wander through a tropical oasis bursting with life.

More than 20,000 exotic flowers and plants are on display here, while research and conservation efforts also take place at the venue.

Many of the species housed in the gardens have been collected during scientific expeditions to tropical rainforests, so holiday makers are sure to come across some flora and fauna they have never seen before.

The attraction is split into different sections, including a Bamboo Pavilion, a Banyan Grove and a Cactus and Succulent Garden, meaning it's easy for visitors to find their favourite exhibits.

Wildlife lovers will also enjoy spending a day at the gardens, as it houses a pond filled with colourful Koi carp and an outdoor butterfly garden.

Those renting Gulf Coast villas in Brandenton will be just a ten-minute drive away from Sarasota, where the Selby Botanical Gardens are located.

The area boasts a number of white sandy beaches offering a variety of watersports, as well as numerous restaurants overlooking the sea.
