Florida villas to benefit from Miami casinos?
Visitors to Florida villas who enjoy a little flutter could soon be enjoying Las Vegas-style casinos in the sunshine state.
A new complex, proposed by The Genting Group, has been planned for the old site of the Miami Herald newspaper.
The $3 billion (£1.9 million) project will include a full range of leisure and accommodation facilities, as well as slots, blackjack, craps and roulette – if the group is awarded a gambling licence.
According to the Miami Herald: "The [planned] mixed-use project is unlike anything South Florida has seen in terms of sheer magnitude and design. With plans for four hotels, two condominium towers, more than 50 restaurants and bars and a luxury retail shopping mall, it’s being billed as one of the largest projects in the state."
Last week, the Orlando Magic team revealed its intention to invest $100 million in a new leisure venture for the area.
