Florida villas: Fort Myers Beach pier undergoing improvements
People who are seeking a stay in Florida villas in the resort of Fort Myers Beach are set to see enhancements to the area's pier.
Work has commenced on the structure and will see railings, hardware and electrical wiring replaced, News-Press.com reports.
Furthermore, the pier, in Lynn Hall Memorial Park, is closed to the public until Friday (November 18th) so that epoxy deck coating work can be undertaken.
The entire project is set to cost the Tourist Development Council $1 million (£627,000) and represents the first major improvements that the pier has received in decades.
Commenting on the attraction's closure, Vicki Little, Lee County Parks and Recreation senior supervisor, noted: "The main people it is going to affect are the folks who enjoy fishing off the pier.
"Our visitors have other options, so it shouldn't affect tourism at all."
Families booking villas in Florida in the coming weeks may also want to take a trip to Greater Fort Lauderdale, with the resort starting to get into the festive mood.
Light Up Lauderdale takes place across the destination until January 14th 2012 and sees a range of buildings illuminated in order to celebrate Christmas.
