Florida villas: Atlantis exhibition coming to Orlando

Holiday makers will have more reasons to visit Florida villas later this year, when a new attraction comes to Orlando's Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.

The famous space shuttle Atlantis will be taking up residence at the venue following NASA's decision to retire the vessel.

Currently, Atlantis is enjoying one last voyage as part of a three-spacecraft orbiting mission, but will soon be a family-friendly attraction at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex when it lands back on earth.

Altogether, the show floor will cover over 65,000 square feet, with a total cost of £6.14 million to create in time for its 2014 opening, according to NASA.

Bill Moore, chief operating officer at the venue, noted: "We are honoured to be entrusted with space shuttle Atlantis, to preserve this remarkable national treasure and share the space shuttle story with millions of visitors from around the world."

The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is just one highlight for those staying in Orlando villas, with Universal Studios and hot summer temperatures some of its other attractive elements.
