Florida holiday road trip offers a chance to see "timeless" towns
Heading off on a road trip while on a Florida holiday offers an opportunity to explore some of the "timeless" towns that can be found off the beaten track in the state.
This is according to writer for the Scotsman David Jones, who recently embarked on such a journey while on a visit to the Sunshine State.
He advised those planning a similar excursion to avoid the main Interstate roads and instead stick to the two-lane highways, which "weave their way through timeless towns and villages long forgotten by corporate America".
Among the attractions that can be taken in while in the state is the Kennedy Space Center, where visitors can take a guided tour to learn more about space exploration and Apollo 11's famous trip to the moon.
Holiday makers who want to explore the south-west of Florida might wish to consider picking up a new guidebook from Lonely Planet, which has been published in partnership with the local visitor bureau.
