Florida holiday 'can easily include visit to St Pete/Clearwater'

One of the favourite spots of British travellers taking holidays in Florida is said to be St Pete/Clearwater, with one tourism chief noting it will soon be easier than ever to reach the resort.

David Downing, assistant director at Visit St Pete/Clearwater, says the UK is the destination's single largest international market.

"We're fortunate to have great loyalty among our British visitors with a high percentage of repeat visitation, which we expect to continue," he explains.

Mr Downing suggests it will soon be easier than ever for tourists to visit St Pete/Clearwater as part of their holiday in Florida, with British Airways due to increase its provision of flights between London Gatwick and Tampa Bay.

With a daily service on the way between the spots, there may be no excuse to miss out on the beautiful beaches and scenery of the American location.

Recent research by STR pointed out Orlando, Florida is one of the areas in the US currently enjoying a surge in popularity, with hotel occupancy rising by more than 11 per cent in late November.
