Combine Florida holiday with visit to New Orleans
People who are planning to head to Florida for their next holiday have been advised of the qualities of New Orleans, which may tempt some to add it to their itinerary.
Stella Clery-Ackland, spokeswoman from the US Travel Association, says following Hurricane Katrina five years ago, New Orleans has worked hard to put itself firmly back on the tourism map.
And with just a drive through Alabama and a fraction of Mississippi separating the Sunshine State from the Louisiana city, those with a car may find themselves in pole position to visit both destinations.
"The old historic French Quarter was virtually untouched [by Katrina]. Their Mardi Gras is still world renowned and still goes ahead. The river walk is great," explains Ms Clery-Ackland.
She adds there are "wonderful" shopping facilities and tremendous food also on offer.
Barack Obama recently said New Orleans has become a symbol of resilience and strength in the last few years.
