Cheryl Cole is UK's choice to share a trans-Atlantic flight with
Brits booking a Florida gulf coast holiday have decided that pop star and former X Factor judge Cheryl Cole would be their favourite companion on a long-haul flight to the US.
Research from Air New Zealand showed that the Geordie singer picked up 37 per cent of the votes, beating off competition from the likes of Keira Knightley, Kate Winslet and Emma Watson.
Other female celebrities which were included in the poll were Catherine Zeta-Jones and Sienna Miller.
Women looking for their trans-Atlantic flight companion picked out Oscar-winning actor Colin Firth as their favourite, with David Beckham and Orlando Bloom rounding off the top three.
General manager of the airline Chris Myers said: "Cheryl Cole has again cemented herself as the nation's sweetheart, being chosen as the British celebrity that most Brits like to cuddle up with on a flight."
Cole has spent plenty of time in the US recently, reportedly working on new album material after being dropped from the US version of The X Factor.
