Cape Canaveral offers sun, sea and space launches for Florida holiday makers

Those planning Florida villa holidays in Orlando may already have the Kennedy Space Centre to their list of places to go.

Located in Cape Canaveral, the visitor attraction allows families to learn about space exploration, meet real astronauts and get up close to some giant space shuttles.

But according to one travel journalist, there is even more fun to be had in the Cape Canaveral area.

In an article for the Sunday Mercury, Paul Cole said holiday makers can also spend time relaxing on the beach and spotting wildlife.

Cocoa Beach has become a popular spot for surfing, while Banana River is a great place to enjoy a picnic and a boat ride, he stated.

Here, tourists may even be lucky enough to spot a manatee in the water, or possibly an alligator if they venture further into the swamps on an airboat.

"With its space heritage and bountiful wildlife, Florida has much to offer," Mr Cole insisted.

Those renting Orlando villas in Vista Cay will be able to drive out to Cape Canaveral and spend a day exploring the area's main attractions.

Vista Cay is also within a short drive of Orlando's biggest family favourites, including Universal Studios, Sea World and Disney World.
