Book villa in Florida for chance to spot groundhogs
People who travel to villas in Florida over the coming weeks will be in a great position to spot groundhogs going about their business.
Kenneth Morgan, a spokesman for Visit Florida, explains the warm weather in the Sunshine State – coupled with snow elsewhere – has led to the creatures heading south earlier than usual this year.
"Florida doesn't usually get an influx of groundhogs until after they do their forecasts, but this winter, there's really nothing left to predict: It's freezing up there and it's warm down here," he states.
Temperatures such as the 75 degrees F recorded this week in Miami are said to be behind the influx of the fascinating animals.
Those who would like to both spot groundhogs and soak up the rays may find they have no better option than to book a villa in Florida.
Earlier this week, the Florida Visitors and Convention Bureau recommended bird watching as one of the ideal activities for those staying in the state.
