Book a Gulf Coast holiday and go dolphin spotting

The Gulf Coast is home to some beautiful beaches, but those who venture beyond the shore and out to sea could be met with an even more stunning sight.

Dolphin spotting expeditions are available on Marco Island, taking visitors on an exciting trip to spot, observe and photograph bottlenose dolphins in their natural habitat.

The Dolphin Explorer catamaran can carry up to 28 passengers and is crewed by a professional captain, a master naturalist and a wildlife photographer.

Guests on each trip take part in a special survey, helping the Dolphin Explorer team catalogue the cetaceans living in the waters off the Gulf Coast.

The five-year study aims to track the abundance, distribution and movement of bottlenose dolphins in south-west Florida.

Mammals are photo identified and give names, with expedition guests invited to christen any new ones spotted on their trip.

In addition to dolphins, holiday makers may also spot wild exotic birds and find rare seashells.

Those renting Gulf Coast villas on Marco Island will be able to book a trip during their holiday.

The resort is just a few minutes away from Naples by car and boasts several white sandy beaches where families can relax and enjoy the Florida sunshine.
