Book a Gulf Coast holiday and enjoy the Big Cypress Swamp

Holiday makers renting Gulf Coast holiday villas in Florida may wish to visit the Big Cypress National Preserve for a day of fun.

They will be able to explore the fresh waters of the Big Cypress Swamp and learn all about the complex ecosystem that exists within the Everglades.

The preserve stretches over 720,000 acres, but there are walking routes and guided tours for those who wish to stay a little closer to the beaten track.

As well as exotic species such as the Florida panther, the preserve is also home to tropical plants and a wide range of wildlife.

Visitors can also enjoy scenic drives and boat trips throughout the preserve, or visit the Oasis Visitor Centre, which is east of Naples and offers a range of exhibits about the preserve, as well as a film and educational materials.

Walkers and ramblers can embark upon a number of designated trails or try their hand orienteering through unmarked terrain.

There are a number of ranger led-activities to entertain those on holidays to Florida, including talks on the local animals and canoe trips through the swamps.
