Book a Florida holiday and visit the Mote Marine Laboratory

Families on Florida holidays may already be planning trips to aquariums and attractions like Sea World, but those who are serious about marine life should consider adding the Mote Marine Laboratory to their must visit list.

Located in Sarasota on the Gulf Coast, this particular attraction is a centre for marine research and conservation, with seven major areas of concentration, from sharks to coral reefs.

It is a working laboratory, but tourists can visit to learn more about marine biology and see the research teams at work.

There is also an aquarium where they can get up close to a variety of sea creatures, including turtles, sharks, dolphins and manatees.

Those who really want to make a day of it can take an eco boat tour from the Mote Marine Laboratory out to sea to watch the creatures in their natural environment and find out how the researchers conduct their studies.

Those renting Gulf Coast villas in Bradenton will be just a ten-minute drive from Sarasota and the laboratory.

Longboat Key, Anna Maria Island and Lido Key are also close by with their beautiful beaches.
